Poker

Choosing actions in poker is based on probability, not on skill. This is because a poker player can only use a particular hand if he can make the best five-card combination. The highest hand wins the pot.

Poker has four main types: Stud, no limit, pot-limit and draw. These games are played with a standard pack of 52 cards. Cards are dealt clockwise around the poker table. Players can discard cards up to three times.

The first round of betting begins with the player to the left of the dealer button. He must post a small blind.

The second round of betting begins with the two remaining dealers. This is a forced bet, and betting is usually done clockwise. The player to the left of the dealer button must post a big blind.

When players have two distinct pairs of cards plus the fifth card, they are said to have a straight flush. If they have two four of a kind, they are said to have a higher rank four of a kind.

A high card breaks ties, if more than one person has the same hand. This happens when someone has a pair of kings and another person has a pair of kings. A high card outside of four of a kind is also a break if two people have a pair of kings and one person has a pair of kings.

A straight flush is a five-card hand that has all cards of the same suit. This is often used as the final showdown. The best natural hand is a straight flush.
